Prototyping Phase

Play a very small prototype by clicking on the link above! It'll open a new window, because it's probably best to play on a wide screen (wider than 900px) to avoid some annoying overlaps between the side picture and the text.

Everything is placeholder of course :')

I actually spent hours (days) trying to make something on Godot + Ink, which failed to do what I wanted in time, but I think I'll get there in the coming weeks. So I'm sharing this Calico/Ink version for now just to give you a quick taste. (There's even some homemade music)

Archeocook is a project I've had in mind for quite some time, but I never got a chance to really work on it properly before. I'm using the opportunity of Indiecade's Climate Jam 2024 to challenge myself and see if the concept could work as a game, and how far I can go on my own as a solo dev.

Genre: Narrative, single player game. For the purpose of the jam, it'll be a small interactive fiction/visual-novel.

Pitch: The player follows the journey of Sy, an Archecook who travels a river aboard their houseboat, the Mirepoix. Their quest is to find people who remember recipes from ancient times, and try to recreate cherished meals using the ingredients they can find.

Setting: The story takes place on Earth in a distant future. Interplanetary traveling is now a common thing, but a handful of people have stayed on Earth. Some of them live along a vast river nestled in a tropical region. Their lives are paced by the abrupt changes of weather and seasons;  but their ingenuity help them nurture the bountiful ecosystem they are part of.
